U4GM PoE2: What Makes Delirium Profitable in 0.5.0

Step through a Delirium Mirror in Path of Exile 2 0.5.0 and the map stops being a normal clear. The fog rolls in, packs get meaner, and your build has to prove it can move while still killing fast. You'll feel it almost at once. Damage starts dropping off, extra monsters crowd the screen, and every pause costs you. Good gear helps, sure, and many players look at POE 2 Items when planning upgrades, but Delirium isn't only a stat check. It's a rhythm check. If you stop for every rare, every scrap of loot, or every side path, the fog punishes you before you realise the run has gone bad.

Why Momentum Matters

The main trick with Delirium is simple: keep going. That sounds obvious, but it's where most bad runs start. You enter the mirror, pick a clean route, and push through dense packs. Don't zigzag just because one monster wandered off. Don't turn around for something tiny unless it's clearly worth the time. The fog rewards forward pressure, not perfection. A strong Delirium run often feels a bit ruthless. You kill what's in front of you, take what's on the route, and leave awkward corners alone. It's not pretty, but it works.

Shards Are Not Free Loot

Purple Shards, Red Shards, and Fractured Mirrors make the mechanic more interesting, but they also get people killed. A Purple Shard is basically asking whether your damage and defence can handle stronger enemies for better rewards. A Red Shard throws you into a sealed fight, so you'd better have recovery, cooldowns, and room to breathe. Fractured Mirrors can be great when they're in a safe line through the map. If they're sitting beside a nasty rare or in a cramped corner, maybe just walk away. That's not cowardice. That's knowing the price before you pay it.

The New Progression Chain

Delirium in 0.5.0 isn't just a random fog event anymore. It has a clearer ladder. You start with mirrors in maps, then work through shard choices and harder encounters. Grand Mirrors can lead to boss duplication, which means your build needs more than mapping speed. The Trial of Madness pushes you deeper toward Simulacrum access, and the Simulacrum itself is a 15-wave test where mistakes stack up fast. Later progression points toward Raven's Shard and Tangmazu, where the reflected boss pressure gets much more serious. So, yes, you need speed. But you also need real single-target damage.

Building for the Fog

A good Delirium character has to sit in the middle ground. Too slow, and the fog leaves you behind. Too fragile, and one bad rare deletes you. Too focused on bossing, and the map clear feels awful. The best setup has movement, recovery, reliable area damage, and enough burst for bosses when they appear. It's also worth keeping your loot filter strict, because stopping too often ruins the whole point of the encounter. If you're upgrading around this content, checking POE 2 Items for sale can help you spot gaps in your setup before the fog exposes them in the worst possible way.
