Brazil Electric Vehicle Aftermarket Market Growth Factors

The Brazilian EV aftermarket is heavily supported by the government, and for the period 2024 to 2028, the Green Mobility and Innovation Program (Law № 14.902) approved in June 2024 offers R$19.3 billion in incentives to the car manufacturing sector to stimulate a transition to low-emission automobiles. It includes tax benefits for investment in R&D and tax credits from BRL 0.50 to BRL 3.20 for every real invested in decarbonization. Additionally, it features the Green IPI tax adjustment, that reduces tax on green vehicles and establishes vehicle efficiency standards. These initiatives are driving the demand for certain aftermarket services, such as battery service and electric motor repair.

Furthermore, Brazil's strategy for EV charging station expansion through public private partnerships can be another important indicator. In February 2024, the joint venture between Raízen Power and BYD announced plans to install 600 charging stations in 8 major Brazilian cities. An increase in installations also allows for maintenance and servicing during charging hours, potentially encouraging regular servicing. It is projected that 10,000 charging stations will be installed by 2025 with specialized service centers on charging systems, power management, and knowledge sharing for third-party aftermarket service providers.

Localized EV manufacturing and aftermarket is transforming supply chains. BYD's new Bahia plant (opened July 2025) has 3 billion reais investment to produce electric buses and passenger vehicles, and lithium iron phosphate batteries, with initial capacity for 150 thousand vehicles/year and the potential to be expanded to 300 thousand vehicles/year. In August 2025, Great Wall Motor opened a new energy vehicle factory in Iracemápolis, with manufacturing capacity for 50000 vehicles per year. This allows fast access to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts, improved training of technicians, and the establishment of a network of third-party manufacturers which make high-quality replacement parts, increasing vehicle choice and improving after-sales maintenance and repairs.
