Islanders sale unanimously approved by NHL Board of Governor
In a surprise move, the NHL's Board of Governors unanimously approved Charles Wangs sale of a majority stake in the to former Washington Capitals co-owner Jonathan Ledecky and investor Scott Malkin. Over the next two years, the Islanders' soon-to-be majority owners will hold a minority stake in the franchise before Wang turns it over.With the board's approval, the path is clear for Wang to close the sale and begin the two-year transitional period.According to , Wang will maintain a minority interest in the club as part of the new ownership group after Ledecky and Malkin a sume majority control.
