So, you’ve wrapped up the story and now Mayhem Mode’s glaring back at you – and yeah, your trusty arsenal suddenly feels like it’s shooting spitballs. Time to shift gears and build something that can actually chew through those smug anointed mobs.

If you’re here for loot efficiency and boss farming, we’ve been testing exactly what hits hardest. And if you’re running short on in-game currency, grabbing a little extra Borderlands 4 Cash can make getting the right gear way less painful.

For players who like smashing faces up close, Spike’s "Rampaging Quake" setup is pure chaos. It revolves around hammering his "Earthshatter" ground slam, boosted by "Aftershock" so every slam ends with a huge nova explosion. The magic here is the "Juggernaut’s Plate" shield – once it breaks, you get a short window of full immunity and ridiculous melee damage. Sure, it’s risky, but lining up a slam that wipes half the map in one go… that’s the stuff you’ll remember.

If hanging back and letting someone else, or something else, handle the killing sounds better, Glitch’s "Drone Swarm" build scratches that itch. By pushing the "Fractal Swarm" tree, you can get three nasty drones all firing away at once. You’ll want as much action skill cooldown as possible – the "Technomancer’s Schematic" class mod is ideal since it can drop cooldown pickups mid-fight. Rather than trading shots yourself, you end up weaving through loot piles while your drones turn the battlefield into a laser show.

Aura’s "Elemental Cascade" really does feel busted. With "Phase-Tether" linking enemies together, any elemental hit on one bleeds to the rest. Pair this with a Maliwan SMG stacked for high status chance and her "Chain Reaction" skill – one spark and suddenly the whole mob’s aflame or frozen. It’s especially nasty in slaughter arenas where chain damage erases everything around you. Boss fights take a bit more tweaking, but for clearing zones, nothing beats it for sheer spectacle.

And for anyone who lives for that single perfect shot, Silas’s "One-Shot Wonder" is a masterclass in crit stacking. The "Deadeye" tree builds you up to "Ricochet Roulette", making crits bounce to two extra targets – and those bounces crit every time.

Pair a solid Jakobs revolver like the "Unforgiven" with the "Hunter’s Eye" artifact to max out the damage. Hitting consistent headshots can take practice, but once you’ve got the rhythm, you’ll melt health bars fast. If you’re missing one or two key parts, checking for good deals on u4gm Borderlands 4 Items can help you lock in the build’s full potential.
