Why Wall-Mounted Heaters Are Better Than Standalone Space Heaters
There are many types of space heaters on the market. Many of them are electrically powered. You certainly have your pick of them, but if that’s the way you’re going to go, a wall-mounted heater is likely your best option, for one very important reason.
The Fire Risk
According to the CSPC, space heaters, both portable and fixed, are responsible for nearly 22,000 domestic fires each year.
Further, according to the National Fire Protection Association, or NFPA, space heaters are responsible for a third of all home-heating equipment-related fires in the United States.
In either case, these are alarming numbers; as you can imagine, even with safe and appropriate use, space heaters are still associated with an elevated risk of house fires.
This is one of the reasons that a wall-mounted heater can be inherently safer than a freestanding portable unit - provided a few other conditions are met.
What Else a Quality Wall-Mounted Heater Offers
One of the big, and most palpable dangers, associated with tower space heaters and other free standing space heaters is that they can be tipped over.
Granted, some are equipped with safety features that shut them off when tipped over, or make a sound to alarm you, but that doesn’t eliminate the risk, it just mitigates it.
Others are not so equipped, and will continue to run even when tipped over. Even worse, when a space heater is positioned so that it is dangerously close to flammable materials, like linens, bedsheets, or curtains, that is another and equally dangerous risk.
Wall-mounted heaters mitigate some of these concerns.
When properly installed, it is not really possible to “knock over” a wall-mounted heater. This alone minimizes one risk. It is still possible to position furniture or other flammable materials too close to a wall-mounted heater, but as long as safety and discretion are observed, that risk will be minimized.
There are also inherently safer space heaters out there which further minimize this risk. One of these is the Envi series that comes from eheat; these operate at a temperature that is warm to the touch, not hot, which also minimizes the fire risk.
In addition, these electric wall panel heaters are equipped with proprietary Wall-Sens Technology that shuts off the heater if it is removed from the wall.
Other Selling Points
While the design of these Envi wall heaters from eheat is superior to many other space heaters on the market, especially portable space heaters, they offer a lot of other beneficial features as well:
- The double stack convection heating element is fixed and has no moving parts; therefore it is completely silent during operation and does not circulate allergens.
- The same feature that keeps the heater warm, but not hot to the touch, also makes it safer for use around the young, old, and pets.
- Because there are no moving parts, these space heaters require effectively no maintenance.
- They are easy to install at home in a matter of minutes with only basic tools and no drilling is required.
- They are extremely economical to run and cost only a few cents per hour in electricity.
These are some of the top selling points of these wall-mounted heaters, but there are many others - visit their website for more details to see what other benefits and features these electric space heaters offer.
