Wheeler Strikes Out Nine in Fourth Rehab Start
PHILADELPHIA — This week, Phillies ace Zack Wheeler delivered a strong performance, striking out nine batters over 5 2/3 innings in his fourth minor-league rehab start with Double-A Reading.
Wheeler allowed three runs but felt great afterward with only normal soreness, reaching deeper into a game than in previous outings. He is scheduled for at least one more rehab start before targeting a late-April return.
The veteran’s progress is a bright spot for a rotation that has shown flashes but needs consistency.
Wheeler’s impending activation could provide a significant boost to Philadelphia’s pitching staff.
This encouraging step brings the Phillies closer to full strength as they navigate an up-and-down beginning to the 2026 campaign.
