Moved from Jakarta to Bali two years ago for remote work. Some things I wish somebody told me before: - Rent first for one year minimum. Area that looks perfect in dry season can be different in January. - Price for foreigner and price for Indonesian is not same. Bring someone local when you visit. - Check the road access, not only the house. Many nice villas have 2 meter gang and no place for car. - I used https://indonesia-real.estate/ to understand normal range per area before talking to anybody, it saved me from paying Jakarta prices in Tabanan. Still in Bali. Still not used to how fast Canggu is changing.
