The Precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) is a synthetic form of calcium carbonate produced through the controlled precipitation of calcium oxide or calcium hydroxide with carbon dioxide. Unlike naturally occurring ground calcium carbonate (GCC), PCC offers high purity, uniform particle size, and superior brightness, making it an essential material across paper, plastics, paints & coatings, adhesives, rubber, and pharmaceuticals.

In the paper industry, PCC serves as a filler and coating agent, enhancing brightness, opacity, smoothness, and printability of paper. In plastics, it improves mechanical strength, stiffness, and dimensional stability, particularly in polypropylene, polyethylene, and PVC formulations. The paint and coatings sector utilizes PCC to improve whiteness, opacity, gloss, and rheological properties, while adhesives and sealants benefit from its thickening and strengthening effects. PCC is also used in rubber and tire manufacturing for reinforcement and improved wear resistance, as well as in pharmaceuticals as a calcium supplement and excipient.

Innovations include surface-modified PCC for improved dispersibility, hydrophobic PCC for polymer applications, and nano-PCC for high-performance materials.
